What fun! I really enjoyed working on these. But, OMG - LOL, I have spent hours and hours on this lesson! There is a lot to absorb, and I needed to work with these capabilities to learn them. But I feel lots smarter than I did 72 hours ago! ROTFL At least as far as PSP is concerned. It's interesting all the things that can be done using these two tools. I used nearly all of the filters and all of the deformations in making graphics. However, because of loading time for those who will view this page, I will post only four of each.
This graphic is of Ayres Hall on The University of Tennessee campus at Knoxville, at one time the main building of the campus. It sits atop the highest hill of the campus and is the reason for UT's nickname "The Hill." I spent many hours in this building in the dark ages (the '50s) in classes while I was in undergrad school. LOL
The picture is cropped to make it a better size for this activity. I tried using a 100 x 100 pixel area for the filters but found they did better on the entire picture.
Graphics Modified with Filters
Hot wax filter
Motion Blur filter
Emboss filter
Mosaic filter
Graphics Modified with Deformations
Circle deformation
CurliQ deformation
Twirl deformation
Wave deformation
Making Background Tiles
Wheeeeeee! Now I can delete all those background files I have on my hard drive - files from other people's web pages that I liked and thought I might someday use on a web page. Now I can make my own - and get exactly what I want.
The background on this page is the second one I made (after the tutorial one). Then I came back and added the side border using weave. (I really like it!) Below are links to pages with three other background tiles I made using Texture Effects. Click on the sample to see the page:

Here are links to pages with side border background files using weave. (And, as mentioned above, this page also has one.)
Text Using Filters
When I was a little girl, my beloved daddy called me "Eager" because I was always eager to do anything new. So I used his term for me in this first text activity using cutouts.

I used the Button/button and Chancery fonts to make the cutout stars and center. Then I placed the text in the center of that cutout and colored it.
I used some other effects, including the Chrome effect, on this one.

Here are some other effects.

The next activity was to make buttons using various effects. Here are four I made:
I have downloaded a couple of filters and will get more later. Just must get something else done, as I have spent much of the last three days playing with PSP!
