Photo Editing: Part 2 of 2
Adjustment Layers - the Basics
It's really great learning about enhancing photographs. Here is the bridge picture brightened.
Here is the Tybee Lighthouse (a picture I've used before), picture taken in the evening. By brightening it, I've
made it appear that the picture was taken earlier in the day.
The same thing is true of this picture of Niagara Falls - from night to day!
Adjustment Layers - Editing Selected Areas
Here is the bridge picture with the couple in the car spotlighted and the area behind the opening of the
bridge lightened to make it appear the sun is shining through the opening.
I lightened the mountain on the left of this picture.
With this picture of my daughter and her groom (made in 1999), I spotlighted the two of them and darkened
the rest of the picture behind them so they would stand out.
Adjustment Curves - Editing Selected Areas
Here is the bridge with the new paint. Actually, the couple are looking at it with their invisible
rear view mirror. ROTFL (I loved your comment under figure 4!!)
With the space shot, I darkened the space ship, using the layer properties. I've always heard the moon is made
of green cheese. And isn't green cheese green? So now the moon in my picture is green, using
layer properties adjustment, adjusting the green channel. LOL
Here I selected the flower and used the red channel to change the color. I did the same with the
yellow in the center and the stems, adjusting the green channel.
And here I recolored the iris!
Using Color Balance - Editing Selected Areas
This is a really neat capability. I see all sorts of possibilities for enhancements for pictures for my web site
with this!
Here is the baby with his purple shirt.
I changed the color of my daughter's blouse in her engagement picture.
Here is an old picture of my husband's grandparents, which I scanned. I gave Granny a green dress and Grandpa
a red suit. Wow! How colorful! (All I need now is to give them purple hair. LOL Wait a minute! I'll go back
and give Granny blue hair, since lots of women of her generation used something on their hair that made it
look blue! Five minute later! Done! Hope she isn't looking down from heaven at me and disapproving! Hee, hee!)
